3-hydroxypropylglucosinolate, a New Glucosinolate in Seeds of Erysimum Hieracifolium and Malcolmia Maritima
نویسندگان
چکیده
Glucosinolates from seed meals of Erysimum hieracifoliwn and l\1alcolmia mantlma were treated with thioglucosidase (EC 3.2.3.1). and the resultant aglucon products investigated. A major product from E. hieracifoliwll was 3-hydroxypropyl isothiocyanate from the novel precursor 3-hydroxypropylglucosinolate. Other aglucon products were 3-methylsulfonylpropyL 3-methylsulfinylpropyl. 3-methylthiopropyL and allyl isothiocyanates. The aglucon products from M. maritima seed meal included 3-hydroxypropyl isothiocyanate. in addition to the previously known 3-methylsulfonylpropyl and 3-benzoyloxypropyl isothiocyanantes.

Cardiac glycosides from erysimum cheiranthoides.
Two new cardiac glycosides were isolated from the seeds of Erysimum cheiranthoides. Their structures were characterized as strophanthidin glycosides of 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->4)-3-O-acetyl-beta-D-digitoxopyranosyl and 3-O-beta-D-glucpyranosyl-(1-->4)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->4)-3-O-acetyl-beta-D-digitoxopyranosyl.

The glucosinolate autolysis products of crushed seeds of DesclIrainia sophia L. (khakeshi) and Brassica napus L. (shelghem) were administered orally to rats in doses representing 8,16 and 32 gm seeds/kg body weight/day at intervals of 10, 20 and sometimes 30 days. Serum T3 and T4 concentrations were reduced in 10 day•autolysate treated animals in a similar fashion to that found with methim...
متن کاملAn evolutionarily young defense metabolite influences the root growth of plants via the ancient TOR signaling pathway
To optimize fitness a plant should monitor its metabolism to appropriately control growth and defense. Primary metabolism can be measured by the universally conserved TOR (Target of Rapamycin) pathway to balance growth and development with the available energy and nutrients. Recent work suggests that plants may measure defense metabolites to potentially provide a strategy ensuring fast realloca...
متن کاملVolatile Glucosinolate Degradation Products of Brassica Napus and Sinapis Alba Seeds
Brassica napus L. and Sinapis alba L. are two cruciferous species for which some medicinal uses are mentioned in the Iranian, Indian and Chinese traditional medicine. Seed oil of B. napus has cathartic action, and is either used as such or after partial hydrogenation for cooking, shortening or as margarines. Sees of S. alba have also cathartic action and some other medicinal uses but, beca...
متن کاملHerbicidal activity of glucosinolate degradation products in fermented meadowfoam ( Limnanthes alba ) seed meal.
Meadowfoam ( Limnanthes alba ) is an oilseed crop grown in western Oregon. After extraction of the oil from the seeds, the remaining seed meal contains 2-4% of the glucosinolate glucolimnanthin. This study investigated the effect of fermentation of seed meal on its chemical composition and the effect of the altered composition on downy brome ( Bromus tectorum ) coleoptile emergence. Incubation ...
